Bdesign Chills Out
2014 has been the start of a very busy time for the team at bdesign, working on 2 very exciting gigs both at home in Victoria and overseas.
To kick off the year in style bdesign worked with the amazing team responsible for the annual Daylesford ChillOut Festival. Taking place in the beautiful Hepburn Shire bushland ChillOut Festival is longest running country LGBT pride event. This amazing event has been taking place for 16 years and has expanded to run across the full 3 days of the March long weekend.
Business Manager Sonet Collins took the lead on the logistic and project management for this event working side by side with the dedicated ChillOut festival team. Working together both teams brought together a massive 3 day party full of music, dancing, colour, lights and spectacle.
Starting the event off was the Friday night live show at the Daylesford Town Hall with the very talented double bill of Monique Brumby and Heather Peace. These two amazing women took the stage and started the festival off in just the right key. Both sets had the crowd below singing, cheering and dancing to the great cover of “Girls just wanna have fun” by Heather Peace.
But before we had a moment to relax it was back into the Town Hall on Saturday night for the Bush Dance. Transforming the Town Hall from a seated concert venue the night before into a traditional dance hall it was time for Snow Gum & Willow to take the stage and put the crowd through their bush dance basics before letting loose with some complicated routines. It was a great night with much of the crowd embracing the event and dressing the part. We may have spotted a few costume cows in the crowd too.
Starting off Sunday with a BANG was the Carnival Day. Filled with amazing food, loads of stalls and plenty of entertainment it was an non stop day of excitement. Following on from the street parade thousands of people joined in the fun down at Victoria Park. With the live stage in full swing the crowd settled in for a day of amazing performers under the clear blue sky. Without missing a beat the wonderful MC’s for the day Luke Gallagher & Dolly Diamond and friends kept the fun going between acts such as 100% Kylie, Sexy Galexy and the Drag Kings and the always amazing Ella Hooper.
With no time to rest it was off to the Town Hall for its last transformation from bush dance hall into nightclub dance party. Closing out the massive event was a great night with entertainment from the fantastic ES Collection dancers and DJ’s Lindsay Marchment, Simon Edwards and Sydney’s Adam Love.
The BDesign team had an amazing time working on this event and would like to thank all the wonderful staff of the ChillOut Festival Team for the chance to work on such an exciting event.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the amazing audio suppliers Advanced Audio and their team for all their efforts. Pete and the team we would have been lost without you. Of course this would not have been a true bdesign gig without putting our signature lighting stamp on the page. It was a big task to turn the Town Hall into 3 very different feeling venues night after night but as always Craig Boyes and his beautiful lighting were in fine form. Big thanks to all the team at Phaseshift Productions for their help and amazing lights (we were told the venues have never looked better).
